The Single Mother Scholarships goal of this work is a doctoral student and development of simulation models and relevant electric control and battery system for integration with mechanical systems and protection in hybrid electric vehicles. You can also use models (standard motor, electric motor and battery system) to simulate from a perspective of the car energy balance and transformed the situation of temporary failure. Models should be relevant, provides a co-simulation of a premium car 2017-the art low-volume production "with" green, safe Connected "feature, 2020's high of production.
The Single Mother Scholarships graduate student use of the electrical machine and tools for power electronics design and modeling, control and optimization methods to study the system. A laboratory implementation of the system will be developed during the project.The research will be conducted in close cooperation with Volvo Cars and other involved research groups.
The PhD Single Mother Scholarships position also involves taking part in the department’s undergraduate education.

Applicant requirements
Single Mother Scholarships Applicants should hold a M.Sc. degree (civ.ing.) in an engineering discipline, awarded by an internationally recognised university-level institution – or well-known equivalent thereof. Applicants should have excellent analytical skills and excellent ability to work independently towards the goals expressed in project plans. Excellent knowledge in Electrical Machines, Power Electronics, Control and related subjects is essential also courses/work with hybrid vehicles is an advantage. Since a laboratory setup will be developed, electrotechnical laboratory experience is vital, in particular for vehicle applications.
Single Mother Scholarships Applicants are probable to have an brilliant working knowledge of both written and spoken English. Since the group’s teaching activities are conducted in both Swedish and English, knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.

PhD student positions are limited to five years and will then normally include 20% departmental work, mostly teaching duties. Salary for the position is as specified in Chalmers’ all-purpose agreement for PhD student positions.
